Still trying to release the EP Being Human, I’ve finally found a distibutor. Seacoast Records will be helping me to get my EP out and ready to buy. Centering more towards online and radio as it is an EP and not a fullength album yet.

I’m taking a new approach at the recording side of things. Instead of going in, laying down some songs acoustic, and having the guys come in individually and lay tracks down, I realized pretty quickly I need to be doing this with everyone at the same time. As planned, it works FAR better and you get a more live sound, which is what I’ve always really wanted to have. I alwasy seemed to forget about that because I primarily never played with a band when I recorded. A bad habit for me I hope I’ve quit.

Bill Furlong and I have been working on ideas for how this thing should look. I’m hoping to have three good themes we can use as a main cover. I want something different for each the EP, Full CD, and what you see if you order it online.

Dear Electric Family

Singer/songwriters Tony Staskiewicz and Evan Blum, formally two thirds of the band Machine Gun Magazines, join up with new precussionist Stephen Menke in Dear Electric Family. Featuring eclectic guitar riffs, varying percussion and melodic experimentation, they’re music is nothing short of miraculous. They’ve been known to cure diseases with the sounds from their instruments. And with the addition of guitarist Trevor DiCarlo, they are even more potent.

The band’s self-described “interesting rock” remains unique while capturing the eminent future of the alternative rock scene. The off-beat yet intriguing lyrics are layered over clever guitar riffs that seem to be floating over harmonious bass and percussion. The vocal melodies and harmonies work together, but still produce a type of tension with each other, creating an upbeat melancholy (as oxymoronic as that sounds). Dear Electric Family doesn’t hold itself to the mainstay rules of music, such as one-key songs and standard tempos, but instead has made a musical genre which encourages rebellion from the mainstays of musicianship.
